Tomorrow will mark 24 weeks for the twins. This is considered a milestone the babies will be considered viable at that gestational period (of course, not without considerable complications that can come with birth at that time). Of course, my goal is to make it to 37 weeks, but hitting the 24 week milestone is a great feeling. I see my perinatologist next Tuesday and will get to see my little ones and get an update on their development. I feel them moving around lots, although I wish I could determine which kick or punch was coming from which baby.
Last Friday, John and I traded in my "fun car" (Infiniti FX35) for a family friendly mini van. We purchased a 2011 Honda Odyssey and it's actually a pretty great vehicle. I hate car shopping and wasn't looking forward to being a mini van mom. The space of the mini van and ease of getting all the kids in and out of it will be well worth my "coolness" sacrifice. I'll still jam out to the radio and my lead foot hasn't gone anywhere (the van has a surprisingly strong engine), but maybe the van will keep me out of trouble...we'll see.
At the grocery store on Sunday, the cashier asked me if I was 9 months along. She was a little shocked when I said no, I was only six months along but it was twins so I get to be extra large. I'll be interested in what people will say in a couple of months when I'm even bigger.
A dear friend welcomed her little girl into the world on Thursday, February 7th and she is absolutely beautiful. It's been so long since Jocelyn was a baby, I almost forgot just how small babies are. So cute though!
On a sad note, another friend of mine had to say goodbye to her twins born on February 1st after 6 days of fighting a good fight. My heart breaks for her and anyone who has ever had to go through that. I count my blessings for each day that my little ones stay put and I pray that they do not make their debut for another 3 months.
