Memorial Day

What started out as a run of the mill cook out and play date for the kids, turned into an all day water spectacular event.  Leave it to the adults to show the kids up on the slip-n-slide!  We had a great time Monday spending time with our friends and letting the kids wear themselves out playing in the back yard.  It was no problem getting Jocelyn to fall asleep on Monday night...although she wanted another one of Val's cookies right up until bedtime (they were delicious)!

Jackson, Thaden and Avery in the pool.

Come on Lyndall...don't you want to get in the pool?

All the kids tried their best to figure out how to be so good on the slip-n-slide.

Here comes John to show them all how it's really done.

We love 3 day weekends!

Pool Time!

Jocelyn had so much fun playing in her little pool after church on Sunday.  Of course the pool is more like a bath tub for the backyard, but she had a great time splashing around anyways.  Jake loves water too, so Jocelyn enjoyed splashing him and chasing him around with a bucket of water.

Here is a random photo from the weekend of Jocelyn eating her favorite food...bananas!

CrossFit for Toddlers

Here is Jocelyn acting silly, running around the driveway.  Looks like she is doing some funny exercises.  Of course, after we take a video of her, she always has to ask to see it!

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  My favorite part was hearing Jocelyn tell me randomly during the day "Happy Mother's Day Momma.  Did you have fun today?"  So cute.

John and I had a nice lunch at my house with Jennifer, Thaden, Owen, Mom, Dad and Pam.  We ate out on the back porch since the weather was so nice and the kids could run around after they were done eating.  Everything was so delicious!

I did a bit of decorating for the special occassion, which is one of my favorite things to do.  Lately I've been obsessed with chalkboard fabric.  I made a banner with chalkboard fabric triangles that can be repurposed over and over again by changing out the ribbon and adjusting the amount of the triangles needed.  I'm thinking I need to get some more of that fabric and it's pretty cheap at $4 a yard to do some more crafts.  I also made napkin rings out of it and wrote everyone's name on it to set their place at the table (even the kids).  Here are some pictures (a little small...need to figure out how to make those bigger) of the setting.  I thought it turned out nice.

Koltyn's Birthday Party

On Saturday, Jocelyn, Aunt Amy and I headed to New Braunfels to help Cousin Koltyn celebrate his first birthday.  The party was at the Landa Park Aquatic Center and Jocelyn had a blast playing in the kiddie pool and sliding down the slide.  I lathered the sun screen on Jocelyn to make sure she didn't get burned, but I failed to do the same for me so I got a bit of a sun burn on my back (funny that my legs and arms don't ever seem to get any color).  Oh well.  We got to spend some time with Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma Cherri, Uncle Scott, Sherri, Koltyn and Kevin, for a fun day in the sun.

After the party Jocelyn and I met up with Lisa, Matt and Harper for a Happy Hour.  We thought we were getting a good deal on a margarita by sharing this really big one, but turns out it was probably just sweet and sour with some ice.

On Sunday, John, Jocelyn, Mark, Amy and I met up with Randy, Kim and little Diego at Chuy's for a quick bite before heading back to Houston.  Diego is now six months old and so cute!  That was the first time we got to see him.  I know John is ready for his best buddy Randy to move a little closer than Odessa/Midland so we could meet up much more often, and I think the Chavez family is ready too.
